Cycling and health
This
Cycling is not only just a mode of transport but also it protects you against a wide range of ill health, and makes you feel fit and better.
Cycling can be part of a programme to lose weight as it burns the energy supplied by any weight inducing agent. A 15-minute bike ride, five times a week burns off the equivalent of about 5 kilograms of fat in a year.
Cycling is good for your heart and health
Cycling is the exercise which leaves you breathing heavily but not being out of breath. So it is really an effective form of aerobic exercise with enjoyment. This is the type of exercise that is most effective at promoting good health, like, cycling reduces the risk of serious conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure, obesity and the most common form of diabetes.
One rough calculation suggests that new cyclists covering short distances can reduce their risk of death mainly due to the reduction of heart disease by as much as 22 percent.

Cycling and women
The one obstacle for a woman in this, as in all exercises, is an anxiety for the health. Some believe that bicycling and the running of a sewing machine are injurious.
Another feature of riding the wheel is that so many portions of the body are called into action. The arms, while extended constantly in activity, are spared any pulling or reaching. This is a point in its favor, as few women can withstand the inroads upon the health caused by over-exertion in the arms. Heart trouble is one form of opposition to it. Cycling calls for activity, alertness, accuracy and grace in the upper portions of the body, but in no place is there an undue strain.
Running sewing machine and cycling have big difference. During cycling the action is distributed. When the right foot is at its lowest reach the left is highest, thus bringing an entirely different set of muscles into play and rest in each limb. With the sewing machine both feet fall and rise at the same time, thus extending all the muscles of the thigh and leg at the same time, and throwing them back into rest the next fraction of a second. Besides, the revolution of each pedal describes a circle of considerable dimensions, and thus makes the relaxation and extension of muscles easy and in better time. The wheel is propelled by pressing the balls of the foot to the pedals, and exerts the greatest stress upon the muscles in the calf of the leg, just as correct walking will do.
Some claim that nothing is so fatiguing as walking, and they compare the up and down movement on the pedals to walking. This is true yet not true, for although all the benefit and exercise which is derived from walking is present in wheeling, the wearying obviated, as the weight of the body is supported upon the saddle.
Who can cycle?
Definitely there are no age barriers to cycling, and people of fitness levels can cycle, according to their capabilities, slow of fast as they wish.
