Young Protester Girl beaten by
Egyptian Soldiers

This young protester girl has been dubbed “The girl in the blue bra” and has quickly become the symbol for Egyptian protesters trying to end the country’s military power.

In a powerful and graphic video seen around the world, soldiers are seen beating and dragging a young girl, with her shirt ripped open to reveal a blue bra, along the street during a protest. Her clothing is ripped by soldiers, her midriff exposed showing no sign of grce by soldiers.

Not only this, a soldier is seen to hit his boot on her chest first from her left side and then this same soldier goes to her right side and hit brutally on her delicate chest area. The victim girl is seen semi-unconscious during this torture.

This video is taken during conflict as the Egyptian military police continued to clash with protestors in Tahrir Square in on Sunday, December 18, 2011.

After this, when people knew about this shameful episode, hundreds of women have taken to the streets of Cairo to protest against military rule and the brutal treatment of female protesters by Egypt's security services. Dozens of men joined the demonstration out of sympathy with the women. They acted as a protective cordon and chanted: "Egyptian women are a red line."

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed outrage at the woman’s treatment and said it dishonours the country. “This systematic degradation of Egyptian women dishonours the revolution, disgraces the state and its uniform and is not worthy of a great people,” she said.
